William H. Baumgartl, M.D., MSME, has over 33 years of experience in the medical field. He is triple board-certified in the specialties of anesthesiology and pain medicine from the American Board of Anesthesiology and addiction medicine from the American Board of Preventative Medicine. He holds active medical licenses in Nevada, California, Washington and Oregon. Currently, Dr. Baumgartl serves as the Director of Regenerative Medicine at Nevada Spine Center. He also leads the center’s second opinion/consult program for advanced pain diagnosis and treatment.

Dr. Baumgartl completed his bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in engineering at Virginia Tech before he decided to attend medical school at the University of Florida. He then went on to complete a residency in anesthesiology and a fellowship in pain management at UCSF Medical Center in San Francisco, California. Additionally, Dr. Baumgartl has received training in orthopedic surgery, acupuncture, and hormone restoration and functional metabolic medicine.  

His unique background in engineering and medicine has made Dr. Baumgartl an out-of-the-box thinker when it comes to solutions for pain control. He spent 20 years working in the medical field in California, where he was known for his innovative problem solving. He served as the Director of Interventional Pain Management at UC Davis and was an advanced instructor of interventional pain treatment techniques.  

Dr. Baumgartl has led the charge in discovering many new treatments to manage pain, including using Botox and implantable pump and stimulator technology to solve pain problems. He’s worked with Elan Pharmaceuticals to develop the protocol for Prialt, the newest implantable pump pain medication.  

Dr. Baumgartl has extensive experience in endocrine and pain pharmacology and the medical management of pain. He takes a holistic approach to caring for his patients. His goal is to help his patients feel better physically, mentally and emotionally by improving their physical pain, sleep, energy and overall well-being. He’s been lauded by patients and others in the field for not being afraid to treat unusual problems.
